The Sacrament of Baptism is a celebration at the very heart of our Christian faith: the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The community becomes aware of new life in its midst when families come together to initiate a new member into the faith. The families have the right to expect the support and prayers of the community as they undertake the responsibility of nurturing children.
Catholic parent(s) of a child to be baptized must be registered and practicing members of our Parish. They should identify with our community and worship with us on a regular basis. They should also exercise responsible stewardship of their time, talent and treasure in witness to Jesus Christ and service to our parish community.
By participating in preparation sessions for the Sacrament of Baptism, parents indicate their willingness to accept and carry out their duties as Christian educators of their children. Parents are encouraged to attend these sessions before the birth of their child. If possible, godparents are invited and encouraged to attend these sessions as well
Baptism. Is it really necessary to be a Christian? Isn't it really just another ceremony? Through baptism we become members of Christ's body, the Church. In baptism, as we are cleansed with water, we die with Christ. As we come out of the water, we rise with Him. It is here we are given life anew - we receive the life of God in our souls - also known as Sanctifying Grace.
