Sue received her Parish Nurse Certificate from Marquette University in 1994 and has been Parish Nursing for 8 years. She resides in Oconomowoc, has 3 grown children and 4 grandchildren. Sue is originally from Columbus, Ohio where she received her nursing degree from Otterbein College.
Why Have a Parish Nurse?
* The complexity of today's healthcare system. Due to problematic fragmentation of our current healthcare delivery systems and restrictions placed on access to these systems.

* The continuous thread throughout scripture of God's concern for the physical needs of His people.

* The parish's involvement with a person from birth to death.

* Faith development is a powerful tool to increase health/well being

* Current research findings of positive effects of faith on the outcome of illness.
What Does A Parish Nurse Do?
Promotes health within the context of the values and beliefs of the parish.
How?

* Health/Lifestyle Counseling

* Train/Oversee Volunteer Programs

* Advocate for Healthcare and Human Services
What Doesn't She Do?
Hands-on care or invasive procedures (The Parish Nurse acts as a teacher, counselor, or coordinator of services)
